CONSTRUCTION PROCESS

1. Client Meetings
foundation forms on DHB construction siteWe listen to clients, answer questions, and give recommendations to help them meet their needs and preferences within their budget. For us, plan development is a team process in which clients can have as much or as little input as they’d like.

2. Site Assessment
We can review an undeveloped lot and conceptualize how the land would accommodate your house and vice versa. We strive to refine home design to optimize your preferences.

We do our best to make your home work for you by taking into account important concerns like energy efficiency and views. For instance, we design homes to take advantage of seasonal sunlight levels without compromising your scenic values.

Note: DHB can also assess prospective properties before you purchase land.

3. Home Design & Plan Development
We can draw custom plans for your home while implementing your input. However, if you’ve already prepared plans, DHB can help you cost-effectively optimize them to fit your preferences. We can also help you modify plans to fit county guidelines.

DHB can help you stay within your budget with our drafting resources and expertise. Our draftsmen have drawn home plans for decades. We know that a key part of saving money is getting things right during the planning stage.

4. Legal Details & Permit Acquisition
DHB develops plans within the guidelines of your home site’s county. We also acquire all necessary construction permits.

5. Site Preparation
Based on your preferences, we can perform as much or as little of the required site preparation. We have the resources to build a road to your home site. We also serve as an intermediary between you and utility companies and keep utility considerations in mind with our preparations.

6. Physical Construction
Our physical construction process begins with digging footings (foundation trenches) and pouring your concrete foundation.

We then lay down flooring, do the framing, and work on installing electrical and plumbing systems. We also install roofing, windows, exterior siding, insulation, and sheetrock.

Near the end, we perform the interior finishing, which involves painting, laying floorboard and tile, and doing whatever else is needed to finish your home’s interior. Appliance installation is part of our interior finishing process.

Note: As construction progresses, you become more involved because you can choose various finishing components, such as paint colors, windows, cabinets, countertops, appliances, etc.
